Audit Types
The type of audit you chose may be determined by the program agency you are dealing with or the specific amount of detail of your homes energy use you need.
Surveyor audit ( used by Met-Ed ) and available for all customers.
Pros; This software is a DOE "Best Test " certified software is fast and accurate giving the average homeowner all the information they need to make intelligent decisions about how to save energy and money in their home. Unless you need a HERs rating for Energy Star or Keystone Help, this is the audit I suggest. Met-Ed customers can receive $150.00 for Test In audits and $150.00 for Test Out audits. Also, Met-Ed has rebates for improvements to the home up to $900.00.
Cons; Can not be used for Keystone Help or to qualify a home for Energy Star. Does not qualify for PPL rebate.
Cost; $350.00
PPL Customers; For PPL customers who wish to apply for the PPL rebate a web based audit is performed in your home by our auditor and a report generated at that time. This audit averages about 4 hours start to finish.
Pros: The audit report is completed and printed in your home on the day of the audit. PPL rebates part of the cost of the audit and qualifies the home owner for rebates from PPL for energy improvements. PPL also supplies energy saving devices to be installed in the home at the time of the audit.
Cons: The web based audit may not have the detail that some home owners require. Can not be used for Keystone Help financing.
Cost $400.
Keystone Help Audit; Those homeowners that are seeking financing from Keystone Help will need a audit modeled in software called REMRATE. This audit requires the same amount of time in your home, but then an additional 3 to 4 hours spent at our office to input your data into the software. Reports are then mailed or e-mailed to the homeowner.
Pros: A very detailed report can be generated with this software and allows for improvements such as solar water, solar PV, ground source heat pumps to be modeled. This would allow financial considerations these types of improvements to be included in the report.
Cons: A 3 to 4 week time frame is required to allow this type of audit to be modeled.
Cost: $475. Plus a $75 pass thru fee if a HERS number is required. These fees are for a third party to review your homes data file.
Treat Audit; The Treat audit is very similar to the REMRATE audit but is a bit easier and quicker in reporting time.
Pros; Nice middle of the road choice. More detail than PPL audit Less cost than REMRATE.
Cons: Can not model solar and ground source heat pumps as detailed as REMRATE. Can not be used for Keystone help or PPL rebates.
Cost: $400.
All audit prices are based on a home with 3000 sq ft of conditioned space. Homes over the 3000 sq ft limit may have an additional cost of $.10 per sq ft charge
